I came across a blog from Citrix today talking about the VDI-In-A-Box version 5.2 release and wanted to share it here. The blog is called Citrix VDI-in-a-Box V5.2 runs with Hyper-V ’12 and Citrix Cloud Gateway. While the main focus of the release was to support the latest hypervisors and Citrix components a number of features were added as well which the blog reviews.
Some of those features highlighted in the Citrix blog include:
- Unified access to VDI-in-a-Box desktops and your applications and data
- Real-time collaboration with Microsoft Lync
- Highly available Personal Desktops with PVD
- Fully automated software update with our Touchless DTagent

We have been talking to customers about this as there can be a great deal of reticence with regards to virtual desktops because it is seen as complicated. Now that Citrix are promoting it as a “in a box” proposition it has been much more widely accepted. In reality it is ultimately still exactly as it was before but its amazing what a bit of spin can do!
